A Living Masterpiece of Art, Nature, and Community
Nestled along the Peace River in Punta Gorda, Florida, Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens is a rare jewel—an ever-evolving sanctuary that marries nature with world-class art. Moreover, it’s a labor of love sustained by visionaries, caretakers, and a community who breathe life into every bloom and every sculpture.
A First Encounter of Resilience
I first visited the Gardens not long after two hurricanes had raged through the region. Despite saltwater flooding and heavy winds, the property stood resilient. Even in that battered state, I felt moved—the sculptures seemed perfectly placed, as if the land itself had shaped around them. Their presence carried power, elegance, and story. In fact, that tour ignited in me a desire to become part of this healing space.
Becoming a Family Member
Today, my wife, my son, and I proudly hold a family membership at Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens. Beyond simply granting access, our membership invites us into magic: unlimited visits for two adults and children, discounted event tickets, exclusive members-only gatherings, and free or discounted admission to over 345 gardens nationwide via the American Horticultural Society’s RAP program. Thus, every visit feels like stepping into a shared masterpiece.
A Vision Brought to Life
Founders Roger and Cindy Tetrault dreamed of a place where art and nature coexisted in harmony. Cindy’s horticultural passion and Roger’s love of sculpture sprouted into 30 acres of winding boardwalks, native plant restoration, and a remarkable global sculpture collection. Importantly, their dream continues through a devoted team: Cassandra Bazinet, who coordinates our Morning Activation at the Gardens classes, and Thomas, the head botanist whose behind-the-scenes care ensures vibrant pathways and seasonal blooms.
More Than Just a Garden
From regular yoga classes and art exhibitions to grand experiences like ZimSculpt—an annual showcase of Zimbabwean stone sculpture—there’s always something extraordinary happening. ZimSculpt’s serpentine and springstone carvings narrate African culture while harmonizing with Florida’s landscape, exemplifying how the Gardens create immersive, one-of-a-kind events.
A Sanctuary for Wellness
Although I lead Morning Activation at the Gardens—a weekly blend of Qi Gong, breathwork, and mobility—this post celebrates the space itself. Whether you’re on a guided tour, enjoying a garden gala, or simply sitting by the koi pond, Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens offers a sacred retreat from life’s rush.
Your Invitation to Slow Down
In a world that often feels hurried and heavy, places like this are invaluable. If you haven’t yet visited, come wander through living art, let yourself slow, and allow the Gardens to speak to your heart.
