25 Jun Morning Activation at the Gardens: A Breath of Life in Motion
Every Thursday morning, Morning Activation at the Gardens transforms Peace River Botanical & Sculpture Gardens into a sanctuary of movement and breath. Tucked beneath towering oaks and among graceful sculptures, this 90-minute guided class blends ancient wisdom with modern movement science to awaken you from the inside out.
Welcome to Your Weekly Ritual
At the core of Morning Activation at the Gardens lies a powerful intention: to start each day fully alive. Rather than a simple workout, it’s a ceremonial practice inviting you to move, breathe, and connect with nature. As part of NewLife Holistic Wellness, I lead you through every phase with mindfulness, honoring the shared values of beauty, healing, nature, and community that bind us to this sacred space.
A Deeply Personal Connection
My wife, my son, and I hold a family membership at Peace River Gardens because the energy here feels like home. Consequently, offering Morning Activation at the Gardens is a gift: a chance to share the very place where we’ve celebrated birthdays, processed challenges, and rediscovered a sense of wonder among the cypress and sculptures.
What Happens in Morning Activation?
This full-body wake-up call unfolds across six stages:
Stage 1: Wake-Up and Activate
- Bouncing to get the blood pumping, stimulate the nervous system, wake the fascia and connective tissue
- Tapping to open meridian pathways and stimulate the lymphatic system
- Gentle bending and rotational dynamic stretches for the spine
- Rotational joint movements (shoulders, wrists, hips, knees, ankles)
- Standing Good Mornings to activate the posterior chain
Stage 2: Challenge and Flow
Next, we deepen strength, mobility, and breath awareness with the Squat Walkout Sequence—scalable for all levels:
- Beginner: A simple squat to a comfortable depth, arms rising overhead, then swinging down as you return to standing
- Intermediate: Deep squat into a straight-arm walkout to high plank, then walk the hands back into squat and rise
- Advanced: Begin in primal squat with arms overhead in a gentle backbend, then flow into a low, bent-arm walkout and a Chaturanga push-up, before returning to squat and rising with a full-body stretch
Stage 3: Recovery and Grounding
After the challenge, we pause to sit, hydrate, and allow the nervous system to integrate and reset before moving to the floor.
Stage 4: Wrist and Scapular Mobility
- Strengthening wrist range of motion
- Rotating and mobilizing the scapula
- Releasing upper body tension
Stage 5: Restorative Floor Flow
- Child’s pose to spinal extension
- Downward dog and free movement
- Return to standing with slow, mindful rolling up of the spine
Stage 6: Clearing, Gathering, and Closing
Finally, we lightly massage the body to clear static energy and inflammation. Afterwards, we perform Tai Chi–style breath circles from Wu Ji stance, grounding ourselves and expressing gratitude to conclude the practice.
